As an author, social media is key to reaching out to readers. Years ago, you could only contact an author through email or via their publisher. Now, the world is at our fingertips. In addition to email we now have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Messenger, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Goodreads, and some I'm not even familiar, lurking out there in the cosmos.

Do I feel overwhelmed? Is the social media world filled with chaos? At times, yes. This picture is an exaggeration, but there are moments when I long for peace and quiet. Where I want to hide in my writing cave or spend one-on-one time meeting readers at events.

However, on the flip-side, I love checking in to see what everyone else is doing. Enjoy looking at pictures of your life--from food, vacations, and family. Sharing your joys and sorrows.

You make me feel connected, and it's not always about me, the author. Sometimes, I like taking a step back and showing you the woman outside of her writing world. I like to bake, garden, take long walks, read, do crafts, and spend time with family and friends.

It's amazing how the world of technology has expanded the social media realm. I can hardly wait to see the growth in another 5 to 10 years. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can keep up!
