Domin8, the back story, or, shhhhh don’t tell my wife what I did.
More than one editor has found Domin8 hard to put into a pigeon-hole, and I understand that. When I had the idea for this complex story I was in my fifties, in a happy, stable relationship and my children had all grown up and were either moved out of home or were soon to. I was a manager for a large car dealership, earning good money and life was (and still is good). I had achieved a lifelong goal of signing a contract with a reputable publisher for my first book, Forever Night, and they wanted more from me, so I told my editor, Shannon, of the idea I’d had for a long while about Domin8. I must say ever since, Shannon is a woman who wanted to see this book published.
Dave Barndon is a 50-year-old car dealer who adores his wife of twenty-six years, and his three children have moved out. The only cloud on the horizon of his perfect life is that while he still desires sex with his wife as much as ever, she no longer does. Dave slips into a pornographic world to find release, and through some unusual circumstances becomes fascinated with women who chose to be submissive through online chat rooms. Eventually he discovers an internet website that specialised in married people looking for NSA dalliances, and Dave thinks he has found Utopia as he slips lower and lower down a very slippery slope.
Believing Dianne, his wife, has given tacit approval so long as it doesn’t affect their married life, Dave edges deeper into a secret life, until someone starts murdering his lovers. Not only is the stalker killing them, but he is trying to frame Dave for the murders and the police are getting closer.
Dave must try to find who has targeted him, and why, and stay out of jail. Things take a terrible turn for the worse when Dianne, his alibi for the second murder, is killed while he is in the shower, and Dave is arrested for three murders.
Many people have asked my what research I did for this, sometimes, confronting book. The answer is lots. I too saw the TV show that sparked Dave’s interest in submissive women which began his downward spiral. There are so many parallels between Dave and myself in real life, to make Domin8 as authentic as possible, for research only (trust me, I’m a car dealer) I went online, created a profile and visited some of the plethora of dark D/s and dating websites on the internet. The chat sessions I wrote about are not only realistic, but truthful. For those readers who think it’s far-fetched, I urge them to try it for themselves.
Domin8 is a total work of fiction and written to entertain and most readers loved the story. However, there are a few philosophical questions asked within the book, and I think they are very relevant:
1. Is it fair if one partner in a long term relationship stops wanting sex when the other doesn’t?
2. If that happens, for whatever reason, does it give tacit approval for the other partner to find release elsewhere?
3. We hear frequently about middle aged men having affairs with younger women, or at least women who still desire them. Is that always the man’s fault?
I hope those who read Domin8 enjoy the story of Dave, his descent into a darker world and his attempt to find redemption for his hedonistic life choices.

Meet the Author
I left Perth, Australia to find fame and fortune in the music business as a long-haired rock guitarist. I wrote poems and music, and my band used to open for some pretty big groups in my wild days. I gave it all up for love and got married. Then, real life took over, children came along, and I threatened to write a book for so many years my long-suffering wife eventually pushed me into it by buying me a laptop and said: "No more excuses, do it." My first book, Forever Night, was contracted and published by now defunct Totally Entwined Group 's Evidence Press. Due to contractual legalities I had to self-publish my next four works: a trilogy comprising Domin8, The Vigilante Taxi, and Burial Ground, and the fourth was Repo, not a sequel to Forever Night, but because I had readers ask what happened next to the main character a continuation. Next, I wrote a love story/thriller about Jenny, who travels in time to save the world from an all-consuming genetically modified blight. She falls in love in the past but can only stay for thirty-three days. This was picked up by my new publisher: The Wild Rose Press of NY. They next published The Deadly Glimpses Trilogy. Book 1, Glimpse, Memoir of a Serial Killer, 2, Glimpse, The Beautiful Deaths and book 3, Glimpse, The Tender Killer. The trilogy follows two married colleges who are attracted to each other while working together to track down three murderers. What will the effect be on their marriages, and their relationship if they act on their desires? I was staggered by the number of demands from readers, my editor, and narrator of the audio versions for a fourth instalment, which I since completed the first draft. My beta readers have applauded it as the best of the four, so after re-writes and editing it will be published later this year (fingers crossed). My next release around July is Winter at the Light, a romantic thriller set in 1952 on a remote lighthouse. Thrillers and crime genres have always fascinated me, and in particular, the dark world of serial killers. I love a good, unputdownable, thriller. The kind you just want to read one more chapter of at three in the morning, but you have to be up at six to go to work. Have I succeeded in creating stories that can take people there? I hope so.
