Long and Short Reviews Weekly Blog Challenge | 04.15.20

Without a doubt, this week's challenge was an easy one: Characters I'd invite to a dinner party. These particular ones were the first to explode within my thoughts. Why? Because they have lived within my mind for twenty long years. Truth! These characters have haunted my dreams, tormented my days, made me furious, sworn at me, sneered at my plots, and yet, allowed me to write their stories. Stories of finding redemption and love. Trusted me to find the perfect woman who could stand beside them. I swear I love them all.

In the end, the Dragon Knights became men (characters) I wanted to invite for a grand feast in the great hall of a castle. Obviously, they'll be plenty of mead and ale served around the table, too.

It was Angus MacKay, leader of the Dragon Knights who swore (cannot reveal the curse word here) at me and snapped, "Ye will not tell my tale first!" His character frustrated me the most. Each time I approached him to ask if his story would be the next, he'd storm away. Angus' story was the fourth and made perfect sense, so I'm glad I listened (truly didn't have a choice) to him . The second oldest, Duncan stepped forth and told me his story would be the first one in the series. Yet when I visited Urquhart Castle (fictional home of the Dragon Knights) in Scotland a couple years ago, I felt Angus' character approach me in a small stone enclosure, telling me I did well with all their stories. And this is where I said my farewells to the Dragon Knights. Yes, I'll return with other stories, but they have willingly stepped back to become secondary characters in other tales.

Ahh, the life of a writer!

What character(s) would you like to invite to a dinner party? Do share! Then hop on over here to see what the others are saying.

And I must add one final note (no shame here), the digital boxed collection of the Order of the Dragon Knights is on sale for a limited time for only 99¢!

See you all next week! Be well. xo
