Medieval Monday | CAMERON by Lane McFarland

Welcome back to Medieval Monday! It's the week of Christmas, and we're on week six of our theme of "Celebrations." My good friend, Lane McFarland is my guest author in The Tavern. She's sharing a snippet from her wonderful medieval romance, Cameron, The Daughters of Alastair MacDougall: Book 1

When you're finished reading Lane's snippet, hop on over to her blog here and read mine.

Enjoy!

Snippet from Cameron

“Would ye care for some fresh air?” His deep voice rumbled in his chest.

She searched his handsome face, his dark eyes.

“Aye, I would.” The words tumbled out.

Robert offered his arm, and she accepted. He escorted her across the hall, out a side door, and into a garden.

A carpet of bluebells wove around a worn stone path. Foxglove, wild basil and garlic flourished on either side.

“Oh, my. How lovely.”

“My mum started it years ago. Nichola tends it now.”

They strolled the trail in amiable silence. Her skirt brushed several plants, and sweet scents of lavender and mint wafted up. She breathed in the delightful smells reminding her of home. How she missed tending her own garden full of herbs and colorful flowers.

Backcover blurb from Cameron

Determined to band Scots together against English tyranny, Laird Robert Graham seals a truce with his feuding neighbor, the MacDougalls. But after his brother is nearly killed in a treacherous attack, Graham kidnaps the laird’s daughter in an act of revenge.

Cameron MacDougall has devoted her life to the healing arts. She’s long rebelled against her father’s feuding ways, but when Robert Graham abducts her, she’s finds herself at the center of the dispute between their families. She expects the anger she feels, not the simmering attraction to the powerful warrior, or the love she develops for his clan.

Can she stop further violence between the clans with her escape? Or will she find her surrender leads to a lasting peace and her own heart’s desire?
