The Power of the Internet

I love this quote by A. A. Milne. And this is how I'm feeling. I care about my family, friends, and the world.

My mother said something to me the other day. She said, "Remember this in your later years. You're now living in history." Though its scary with many out of jobs, tons of businesses and schools closed, and the threat of an invisible virus creating chaos across our globe, I have to remain calm. Focus on something positive each day.

As a writer, I'm blessed to be able to work from home. Thankfully, my husband is retired. His days are spent doing projects around the house, taking walks, and keeping me informed on the latest news. Yet my children, until recently, we're still tending to their jobs (my son is in law enforcement), which involves daily public contact.

And then I realized the beauty of the internet. It had been hovering over me all this time. Most of us are shuttered in our homes, yet we are still connected--from emails, Facebook, Instagram, Skype, facetime, we're even a phone call away. We cannot touch each other, but the internet can enable us to stay together.

I'm keeping busy with baking, reading (so many books on my tbr list), walking (spring is here), purging closets, working in my garden (though I don't foresee any new tomato or pepper plants until summer since I can't get out to the nursery), and writing the second book in The Wolves of Clan Sutherland. The first book, MAGNAR, is under contract and in the hands of my editor.

But I'm also staying in touch with all of you, my friends! In these difficult times, I care about you. I'd love to send you baked goods (or even toilet paper). Instead, I'm offering 5 digital and 5 audio books to anyone who would like one. Your choice, too. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.
