Spotlight #NewRelease and Interview | TWO HEARTS ONE STONE by Leslie Scott

Please make welcome a sister Rose (The Wild Rose Press), Leslie Scott! We're celebrating her new release, Two Hearts One Stone! The Tavern is serving its finest ale and sausage roll-ups. Get comfy and let's hear what Leslie has to say...

MM:Welcome to the Tavern, Leslie! So happy you could join us today! Congratulations on your new release, too. I'd like to start by asking one of my favorite questions to writers: Describe a typical writing day. Are you a morning, afternoon, or night-owl writer?

LS: Mostly I’m a night-owl writer. Unless I’m on a deadline. Night seems to be when I’m the most creative and get the most done, so I tend to stay up until the wee hours of the morning.

MM: I wish I could write in the evenings, but my readers know (I've professed this many times) I turn into a pumpkin after 6:00pm. Can you tell us about your current work-in-progress?

LS: I have three current works in progress. I’m finishing revisions for the third installment of my Arkadia Fast series. Revising per editor notes a Romantic Suspense novel I had written for a pitch contest. And writing a paranormal suspense novel, the first in a series about witches.

MM: Ooo...sounds fantastic! I love paranormal stories! What inspired you to write this book/series?

LS: Two Hearts, One Stone was brought on by my love of the romance cowboy, horses, and all those things. I read where an editor at my publisher had said she’d like to see a contemporary western that took place somewhere other than Texas or Montana. Well, I’m southern and we have plenty of cowboys around here—from there I ran with it.

MM: They're cowboys in my home state of California, Leslie. What’s your favorite item on your writing desk?

LS: When I finished my office my son brought a tiny (maybe an inch tall) mini figure that sort of looks like him. I’m not sure where he got it or why, but it’s a joke among our family since he got it that it looks like him. He put it on my desk, in the paper clip holder (which, he carved himself, btw) and said “So you always have a little me close by.” Super adorable.

MM: How extra special, indeed. You’ve been given a golden ticket to time travel into the past. Whom would you meet and why?

LS: Oh wow, I’d really like to maybe meet Anne Bonny. Just to see if she was as badass as I’ve always imagined she was.

MM: I've heard intriguing tales about her, too. I believe she was a 'badass', since she traveled with some of the toughest pirates. Now for some fun questions, Leslie. Do you prefer...

Champagne or Beer? Neither really. I’d go for wine without the bubbles.

Southern drawl or Scottish burr? Being a southern girl, married to a southern boy, I have to go with the drawl.

Kilt or Leather pants? Sorry ladies, but neither. Yes, yes, I should have my romance card revoked. But a nice fitting pair of well-worn jeans or a cargo/fatigue pants does it for me. (Teehehe...I love it)

First romance you read? I wish I’d kept it, but I’ll never forget it. Jennifer Blake’s Royal Seduction.

Print book or e-reader? Both. I’m not picky so long as I can read.

Backcover blurb for TWO HEARTS ONE STONE ~

Horse trainer Stone Dempsey’s life is all about the ride—with horses and women. He uses his equine talents to impress the country club set and earn money for Smoky Mountain Reining Horses. When his drug-addicted sister deposits her sick baby on his doorstep, he’s suddenly saddled with real responsibility.

Dr. Emmersyn Cole’s goal of starting a practice in her favorite place on earth is finally coming to fruition and she is not going to be sidetracked. Everything is going great until Stone swaggers into her life, half-dressed with a smile that could melt her insides. She's determined to keep her distance…until he rushes into her grandfather’s home, clutching a feverish baby, terrified and vulnerable, and her heart’s hard shell begins to crack.

In only a few short weeks, Stone’s wayward heart suddenly relies on two women—one who needs him—and one that he might not be able to live without.

A Sneak Preview from TWO HEARTS ONE STONE ~

His upper lip curled into a snarl, but it did little to dampen her flourishing attraction. She took a step forward and sucked her bottom lip between her teeth. Ready to do just about anything to wipe the forlorn look from his face.

That’s how he does it.

Without even trying, he’d reined her in like his horses. She stood closer, at ease, and far too eager to please him. When she lifted her gaze to his, the slow burn of tension-laced desire beckoned her.

“Oh no you don’t.” Emmy took two dramatic steps backward.

His laugh in response wrought a heat in her cheeks. Annoyed with her behavior, she fisted her hands on her hips and spun away. She was an intelligent, highly educated, independent woman. Absolutely not the sort to get sucked into the Stone Dempsey tractor beam of sex and debauchery.

She only managed half the length of the barn when, abruptly, he stopped laughing.

“Emmersyn.”

Had the sound of her name ever held such a heated promise?

About the Author ~

Leslie spends most days attempting to wrangle the voices in her head and often wishes she could clone herself so that their stories get told faster. She loves words, romance, and characters that feel like family and spends almost all of her free time with her own family; including a boisterous eleven year old that she homeschools and an assorted cast of rescue pets. She lives her own happily ever after with her soul mate and best friend in the northern part of Alabama and hopes you enjoy reading her stories as much as she enjoys writing them.
