Welcome to Medieval Monday and our final segment of the theme of "Family." I hope you've enjoyed these brief snippets from these wonderful medieval romance authors. I'm wrapping up with my own snippet from Dragon Knight's Shield. I do hope you've been following along with mine. I will choose one random winner from all the comments left on the various blogs, including this one today. Winner will be announced next Monday, December 31st and will receive a signed print copy of Dragon Knight's Shield. Until then, enjoy!

Next, he reached out to Duncan within his mind. Finding him, he said, “When I return, Duncan, ye must tell me all that has been done here while I have been away. I ken ’tis time I took back my duty as your leader. I am proud of all ye have built, and I shall have need of all my brothers to assist me.”

“I will await your return,” stated Duncan. He quietly moved forward and Deirdre moved out of the way. “’Tis good to see my brother standing before me.”

Angus reached out and embraced Duncan with one arm. “Ye will need to be my eyes, if the Great Dragon cannae help me,” he whispered.

Duncan drew back and laughed. “Angus, ye have always had eyes everywhere. Ye see all. Be gone, Brother.”

Smiling, Angus started forward, and Deirdre intertwined her fingers within his.

Angus MacKay, leader of the Dragon Knights, failed his brothers and his clan upon the death of his sister. Now he must fight the darkness of despair tempting his soul. Back on Scottish soil, he comes face to face with Deirdre who can wield a sword as mightily as his warriors, and takes her captive. Yet, with each passing day, the fire dragon inside him roars to claim the one woman fate has destined for him.

Famed mystery writer, Deirdre Flanagan, is unprepared for the next chapter in her life. On a vacation to Scotland, she steps through the mists and enters into a skirmish alongside a Highlander. However, the fight has only begun, and now she must battle Angus as well as evil in order to claim the love of this Dragon Knight.

Will their love be powerful enough to shield them from danger, or burn them to ashes?
