Long and Short Reviews Weekly Blog Challenge | 03.25.20

Hello, dear friends! I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.

Considering the state of our planet, this week's topic was one I'm sure most of us can only dream about at the moment: Favorite things to do in the spring. When spring arrives, I'm usually bursting with joy--similar to a flower bulb shooting forth from the ground. March sees the arrival of two of my favorite flowers, the daffodil and roses. There's something bright and cheery about the daffodil, and I love the scent of roses.

Since I was unprepared for a virus to shutdown the country (and world), I had to think of other options for my garden. It's at the top of my "to-do" list when spring arrives. Usually in late March or April, I plant my tomato and pepper plants. The herb garden is trimmed back (rosemary, thyme, sage, and Italian oregano) and the ground is prepared for planting. I know I can order seedlings/seeds, but I'm waiting another week or so. I enjoy visiting my local nursery.

At least my garlic is flourishing! Though I'm seeing many Blue Jays stuffing acorns into the dirt around the garlic. I plant in October and harvest in early June. Two years ago, I had enough garlic for a year! We shall see what happens...

This was the first rose that blossomed last year on my rose bush. I expect this year's flowers to open within the next week or two.

By playing in the dirt I don't have to worry about the virus, but I'm always washing my hands. ;) So what are your favorite things to do in spring? Do share! Then hop on over here to see what the other authors are saying.

See you next week. Be safe and well! Sending virtual hugs to all!
