Medieval Monday | THE VALIANT VIKING by Bambi Lynn

Welcome to Medieval Monday! We're flying along with our theme of Bad Guys and Villains in week eight. My guest today is the lovely Bambi Lynn! She's sharing a fabulous snippet from her medieval romance, The Valiant Viking!

And I hope you're following along with my own snippets. If so, hop on over to Bambi's blog HERE.

Kaylla covered her face, stifling a scream and blocking out the sight of Rheda’s lifeless form lying just steps away. What must she have endured from this man that she would so brutally take her own life rather than be his slave?

Boddi’s anger soon trickled to irritation. He could easily pick a new plaything from the booty he had just won.

He did a quick count of the captives. “Only sixteen in all,” he grumbled. “Bring the maids to me.” While the Vikings rounded them all up, he spoke to Rolf. “The Anglican king, Eadwald, holds a fort among the marshes near Axning. He is the only remaining king on this peninsula. Since our own king named no successor, I shall claim my birthright upon Eadwald’s defeat.”

Rolf stiffened, but his voice sounded calm. “Your ambition, Boddi, remains legend.”

Can a foundering seaside village survive the onslaught of marauding Vikings bearing down on them?

Desperate to save her village from a band of Norsemen sweeping down the coastline, Kaylla catches her first ray of hope when she discovers one of the pillaging heathens washed ashore. Perhaps they can use this captive to bargain for the safety of their village. Rolf Bloodhands, sole survivor of a traitorous attack on his king’s fleet, assures her that his kinsmen will not spare the easy conquest of their waning village for the life of one man. Instead he teaches them the basics of defense and combat with the meager weapons they have available. If they fail to stave off the invaders, the few villagers left will either be killed or enslaved.

With only two days to prepare for an invasion sure to decimate her village, Kaylla is shocked by her attraction to the hunky Norseman she has enslaved. Who knew fear of imminent death could drive an innocent woman to explore the oldest sins known to man.
