Celebrating Autumn with the return of Medieval Monday

Welcome to the start of Medieval Monday this Autumn! For the next twelve weeks, we're continuing with our theme of "Nature" in our excerpts from our medieval stories. However, the snippets you'll see each Monday on our blogs will be from our own stories.

I encourage you to follow along with all the other Medieval Monday authors on the facebook page Medieval Romance Lovers here. There you can find the links to their blogs where they are sharing their snippets. Psst, there might be a giveaway or two on the facebook page, so do hop on over.

I'll be sharing snippets from my new release, Magnar. If you haven't had a chance to pick up your copy, I hope these teasers will tempt you further.

To set the scene for the next couple months with my snippets, Magnar and Elspeth are in the forest discussing where their enemy and his men have fled. They deem there is still a threat. During their conversation, Elspeth realizes how much her counsel matters to her husband. It's one of my favorite scenes, too.

Snippet from MAGNAR

“Aye!” She smacked her fist into her palm. “They have gone in search of more men. Or to threaten others for their cause.”

Magnar’s lips thinned as he rubbed a thumb over his torc. “Which means they will surely return.”

Elspeth’s shoulders sagged, comprehending her husband’s journey across the lands would never end until he sought his own vengeance. This is not his home. Not for the leader of the elite guards. Your quests are varied, Magnar, and this is one in a hundred.

Known as the Barbarian, Magnar MacAlpin is a fierce ruler for those under his command. As leader of the Wolves of Clan Sutherland, his loyalty and obedience lies with Scotland. However, the king’s last demand is not something Magnar will tolerate.

After Elspeth Gunn’s brother the Chieftain of Castle Steinn is murdered, she flees with her nephew, and finds safety amongst a band of men who are rumored to be part wolf. When the king forces her to wed a heathen Northman, she fears losing her heart and soul not only to the man, but the beast as well.

In order to restore peace to a shattered clan, Magnar and Elspeth travel a treacherous path that challenges their beliefs. When evil seeks to destroy ancient traditions, will Magnar be compelled to restrain his wolf or allow him free to protect those he loves?
