Friday Feast | Holiday Tins and Candy

Welcome to Friday Feast in the Tavern! December has arrived and so has all the delicious, tempting treats I crave during this time of year.

Long ago, and I'm talking decades, I started my holiday baking in September. I learned this from my mom, who did the same. We had a large freezer in the garage to store all the cookies, candy, mini cakes, and holiday bars. I'm almost certain my children stole a piece or two from the many containers stored neatly in the freezer. If not, SPEAK UP, Noelle, Amanda, or Nick!

Now, I do all my baking in December, and it's scaled down to couple favorite cookie recipes and peanut brittle. Yet there are two items I begin searching for in November: Spice Drops and Lindor Peppermint Cookie Chocolate Truffles. Oh, my goodness! I will savor these special treats until January, then sigh when they are all devoured.

Another favorite of mine is collecting holiday cookie tins. The ones you see below are tins I've collected for a decade. I have many more and reuse them for my own baking or gift them to friends and family. Some I've purchased with cookies inside. Walker Shortbread always has the most adorable holiday tins this time of year. And their cookies are delicious, especially dunked in a steaming mug of cocoa.

So, my friends, what holiday treats are you looking forward to savoring? Any special ones you only buy and/or bake once a year? Do share!

Have a lovely Friday and enjoy a cookie or two for me.
