Medieval Monday | "To Weave A Highland Tapestry" by Mary Morgan
Welcome back to Medieval Monday! Are you ready for medieval heroes and heroines? To visit distant lands? Then escape each Monday into our world! Our theme for the next eleven weeks is nature. You'll see familiar faces and stories, along with a new author joining us, too. I hope we can entice you to journey with us.
To start the first week, I'm sharing a snippet from my story, To Weave A Highland Tapestry. The heroine, Gwen Hywel has recently found out she's tumbled into the year 1209.
Enjoy!
Snippet from To Weave A Highland Tapestry
When she fled Patrick’s room and exited the castle, Gwen’s only mission was to find an escape from this madness. She skirted past wandering animals, praying she wouldn’t encounter anyone. Her steps led her to a huge garden. Quiet and soothing, except for the lone shrill of bird song, Gwen thought this was her answer to a passageway out of the castle grounds. Yet, everywhere she searched only led her to a stone wall.
Pacing furiously in the garden, Gwen was determined to get away from this delusional world. She kicked a stone out of her path, trying to fathom an escape route. Apparently, all the steep paths led to a stone portion of the castle. In an attempt to pull apart vines of ivy, she managed to scratch her hands.
“Blast and double blast. Why am I always getting in scrapes?”
